Ok ill keep it simple.
1. I have used bleach before on, rocks before i introduce them into the tank. I know how to make sure the bleach is 100% gone before it hits the tank.
My question is, when getting a used tank that was used for research at a local university, can I use bleach inside and let it sit? I will be doing a cap full or more for 29 usg. My main worry is the bleach messing with the silicone in the tank.
The reason I want to use bleach is this.
I have slate rocks, and when algea grows on them and i take them out to clean them, scrubbing really doesn't work and takes a ton of time. I put a cap of bleach in the sink with the rocks soaking for 2 hours and what do you know the rocks are 100% clean... i then soak and soak and rinse untill I cannot smell the bleach or feel the coat of it on the rock. I have leanred this works 100000% better than scrubbing.
So will small amounts of bleach soaking in a tank hurt the silicone?
