In most bait fridges in my area there are small containers of Butterworms, or Chilecomadia Moorie larvae (chilean moth). Most grubs are packed full of nutrients, and i feel these guys are perfect for smaller carnivorous fish, the smaller ones seem like my 2 in. leopard ctenopoma could take em down. I got some for fishing because they were all out of nightcrawlers and they did pretty good, got some rock and large mouth bass around 7-10 inches. They are also very very soft, i feel they would be really easy on the stomachs of smaller carnis too when ghost shrimp exoskeletons may tear some small fishs stomach.

Anyone use these? or should i not use them? theyre about 3 bucks for 20 of em and thats a bit more then nightcrawlers but they are such perfect size already for smaller fish, or even just to vary the diet of one of my larger carnivores. Im sure my red wolf could munch a dozen in one feeding haha

I don't see any reason to not use them. I too feed butterworms to my fishes and don't have any health issues that I can see so far but then again I used variety of food sources to my fishes to have a balanced diet.

If they won't fatten up your fish (butterworms... I think it's a legitimate concern) and they don't have any growth stopping hormones or whatever like goldfish, I say go for it.
If you breed them yourself you could really cut food costs.

hmm i wonder if that would be simple enough so i can do it in a small space.. i would for sure go for it, i already breed feeder fish to save money so why not moths haha. Nice thanks guys i was just double checking on these guys, even if they are full of fat a few of em once in a while owuld probably be good for growth of smaller preds
