Assuming i can find a pesticide free high quality fake lawn grass with no added chemicals or mold resistance chemicals, etc is it fish tank safe?

i think it would look amazing in a tank. I might try it if i get another tank.

if it was100% chemical free ,I dont see why not ... the trick is finding some where you know thats the case..

Agreed with lp85253. Might want to check on what it's made of and if it's submerged for long periods of time if it will degrade.

The only other thing that will suck about it if it will work and be safe for your fish is how much surface area will be there for algae to grow. Cleaning it will be a nightmare and a half.

Theres someone on mfk that has a tank with fake grass/turf substrate....so it can be done.

Agreed. If you like the look and the items are both inert and won't degrade, then they should work fine.

If the grass is on a mat and the mat does not allow air through it, I would consider not putting it on the bottom of the tank since it will inhibit oxygen flow. If you could add a bunch of punctures, or move it every 2 weeks, you should be fine. Small cut-up sections, e.g., 3"x3", should be fine, just large ones like 10"x10" might be my concern.

I assume since these are for lawns, they allow ample water flow, so that shouldn't be an issue. Just sayin'.

You could probably go old school and add a under gravel filter to the tank to ensure no debris gets trapped under the mat as well... Saves pulling it up evert week if you cover a large area...
