I've been using frozen food for my young snakeheads but someone told me yesterday that unless it's defrosted it'll cause intestinal problems. Is this true?
Ive been using frozen shrimps for a long while to feed my Snakeheads didnt see any problems wiht it yet.. so no i dont think its a problem .
Cant say im expert on it tho but it should be alright just put some hot water over it before u feed it too them.
Hi,
I just throw it in (I chop it up for the the smaller fellas first) after a few seconds ,when it sinks its defrosted anyway, and have had no problems.
I've been doing this for donkeys years and this is the first I've heard about "intestinal issues".
it has been poved by science that it is 100% defrosted by the time it reaches the fishes stomach. and causes no ill health even if your fish eats it as soon as it hits the water.
this is something i looked into some years ago when keeping arowanas
Hi, frozen foods should be defrosted before being fed to fishes. To defrost foods it will take you only one minute, hot water a quick rinse and there you go.
