Any body use the stuff in there sump filters?

I hear about how it is so good with low maintenance if set up correctly.
Also you need it to be atleast 50% of the filter area...?

Not all that expensive either towards other medias.

My idea is to have a section of the sump filled with the K1 and a good air pump to circulate it as i believe its best, although it can be used static.

Here is the idea for the K1

it will be added in the gap between the blue and green sponge and aireated with a few decent airstones.

I was builing a Koi pond until things changed in my plans and found out about the stuff, most Koi keepers swear by it so if its good enough for Koi then i cant see why not the aquarium.

I have a good few air pumps at hand to help out.

how come you went with a layout like that in your sump? it looks like the water will have to pass horizontally through the pads instead of over/under?

This is how i got the filter, there is no reason why i cant adjust the flow with a few sheets of glass.

This is why i added it to this section under ` What to fill this sump with`but no response`

In the pics i didnt move the blue sponge to the stop plates where it will be fitted for the setup. This will give better even circulation...unless otherwise that is.

Anyone think i should section it as a over under sump not straight through set up, there will be a 2inch gap between the tower blue sponge to allow the water to use the full surface.

What you think.

Maybe try it as is.
