how many silver arowanas can i put in my old 575 gallon koi pond? its 8'10"x4'9"x1'10" (LxWxH). My original plan was to put snakeheads but then i realize. they will be hard to see since the pond walls and floor is black. Anyway, im planning to put 4 silver aro. will they fit once they are all grown up? and arowanas can leap out of the water right? my pond has a 1 foot wall from the surface of the water. is that enough to prevent the silver aro from jumping out of the pond?

A one foot wall is not going to contain a silver aro if it jumps. Though I would think the risk of jumping would not be as great in your pond, possibly you could rig some additional measures to contain them. Your pond could be fine for 4 adult arowana, but if they do end up getting over the 3 foot mark it may become a bit crowded.

Got any pics of the pond?

yes i can put something on the pond walls but i was wondering how much more should i add to contain them? Usually, how long before they reach the 3 foot mark?

here is the picture of the pond. its a bit plain, im planning to put some rocks and plants in the water to make it look natural.

Nice pond - but only 10 inches of water ? I would recommend using the pond for keeping / breeding small fish like gouramis, livebearers, etc.
Also, keep in mind that only 10 inches of water will very quickly get very, very hot.

What happened to the Koi :/

its 1 foot 10 inches deep. actually, this pond is connected to the main koi pond but i'll be putting nets to close the canal, only water will flow through it. yeah i already thought of making this a breeding place but i prefer having some gentle carnivores. lol.

the koi are all fine and still growing. :D

No aro in captivity that i know of has reached 3 feet. Your pomd is perfect for four silvers.

As Bian said, you really need to augment the side walls, at least 2 feet more, or put a net structure over the pond, becausethey really jump...and die.

I knew a guy with silvers in a pond and they hit 2.5 feet very quickly

They will deff jump out of that pond though. U will need some type of netting over top

i think i'll go with the net structure. it would be easier to construct.

btw, that pond has a current in it. its a bit strong on one side (near the bubbles, south). do i have to remove this?

I missed the 1' part of 1'10 :)
That would be perfect for a few - make a pack of them. The current should be fine - I think they would enjoy it - but maybe make it a little less strong.

Your biggest challenge will be keeping the fish in the pond.
