Using polyester in a tank

Thinking about buying a media bag to place on bottom of tank..... will it desintegrate in water after awhile?

Yes, they will disintegrate after a long while. The fish will peck on it and shred it. If this stuff get into your filter motor and impeller then you're out of luck. Why do you want to put in the tank? They're made to stick in filter and cansiter.

Do you just want to let it sit on the bottom of the tank? What will be the purpose of it? Maybe I am missing something, anyone shed some insight on what the point of this is?

You will need strong current to have a good amount of bio to build. Why not just throw some ceramic rings and use that as substrate?

Go out and spend $5 and get a sponge filter or two, stack them up for more surface area.

We have a bare bottom tank, and with our wet/dry filter, we have great biological filtration. With a good wet/dry system, you wouldn't need to worry about "housing" more bacteria in the tank.

I do. Water takes the easiest path. It will just flow around it, not through it. The bacteria would need more flow through to be anything close to useful.
