hey there, i go to school about 2 hours away from my home and i will not be able to bring all my tanks home foe the summer so i was thinking about getting a pond to keep my fish in during the summer. I live in south carolina and was wondering if this was a possibilty. I have a 5 inch red devil, 3.5 jag, 4 inch 5 star general, and a 5 inch channel cat in random tanks and was wondering if i could put them all in the same pond if there is adequate hiding places. also what size pond would i need to store them for only 3 months. Let me know what you all think about this please

How much are you willing to do WC's and overfilter?

Do the ghetto pond aboveground pool thing...

haha oh i am definately planning on doing the ghetto above ground pond...i mean i am down to do whatever i need to because its only for 3 months. how often would i need to do them and what kinda filters could i use? also what size would you recommend for the minimum size

Beware when bringing fish back in household tanks. Any larvae in pond water and on fish will mature into bugs flying around in your home. At least that was my experience when bringing fish back in for the winter.

ok i will definately be certain to watch out for that. do the fishes colors change in the pond?

I fed them a variety of color enhancing food pellets and sticks. Plus what ever nature dropped in like bugs, baby birds falling from nests, and small drowning rodents. You'll notice a dramatic change in their color and size.

cool...so i dont need to cover it to keep things creatures like racoons and birds out of the pond?

I personally had a problem with a 'great egret' and a 'racoon'. For the racoon I kept a Havahart trap handy and relocated the critter. As for the the great egret, this beautiful bird every year attempted to eat my smaller fish. It got five (6-8") one year and I learned to never put anything in the pond less than eight inches long.
