i was advised ny someone that instead of buying expensive gravel sand its cheaper to buy pool filter sand. i bought the sand and washed it throughly but its leaving a mercy color. i dont have any fish or a flitration system yet, will the filter system clear the water or is using pool filter sand a bad idea??

Howdy,

It'll clear. Since you obviously have nothing else in there other than sand, you can also do a 100% water change if you are impatient.

BTW: check a dictionary for mercy vs. murky ;)

lol i thought that was the spelling, its actuallybeen two days and its still mercy, i mean murky, should i wait for my filter?

Do a large water change or two

do a larger water change, and then place a plate or bowl on the sand and let the water hit that when you refill. also don't put it on full blast.

then do this like 3-4 more times.. adding a polishing pad/polyfill to the filter will help
