I'm thinking about getting a python for water changes, but how exactly does the tube attach to my faucet?

You have to unscrew the little screen part.The python has an adaptor that will scew onto the threads there. Hope that helps.
With a little help from Home Depot I actually have mine running off of my extendable shower head...Off comes the shower head and I just screw that hose onto my Python attachment. Cost me about 5 bucks and has made changing 75-100 gallons a week MUCH more manageable.

Mine was the same way...hence using the shower hosing. It takes a home depot run but it is worth it's weight in gold.
