Has anyone had a lot of experience using the access port for water changes on the FX 6?

Trying to plan out the best way to do water changes on my 120 gallon tank. Draining is easy enough but getting 30 gallons of treated and dechlorinated water back into the tank seems like a challenge.

The FX 6 can pump water from buckets and I got enough 5 gallon buckets to make it work but my long term plan was, if possible, maybe setting up a water reservoir in my basement and pump it up stairs to the tank. Was wondering if the FX 6 pump would be strong enough to pull it from the basement or if I should also invest in a strong pump to get it up a story.

Anyone play with a setup like this?

If you only treat your water with a dechlorinator type product, why not just use a hose to fill your tank?

There are a few members that use a holding tank in a basement and a pump to fill an upstairs tank, hopefully they will comment. You will need to know the height and distance you will need to buy the proper size pump.

I think the pump might be powerful enough, the max head height is specced at 3.3 meters. So should get it up there, not a lot of flow though.

But you're probably better in that situation with a pump in the bin in the basement. Otherwise you'd have to get the airlock out of the hose all the way up to the FX6. But a pump submerged in the water change container? No problem.

I used that function on my FX4 and it don't use the full pumps power. Took twice as long as a normal python connected to the faucet. Not sure if the FX6 is different.
