What is the usual growth rate for endlis? I know there could be major significant differences between individual specimens but I ask as a "general guideline" type of question.

Example: It's common knowledge among reports from fishkeepers that I have read that Oscar fish growth rate is roughly 1" per month from the 3 to 4" length until they reach 8 to 9", then it slows down to 1" every other month or so until 11-12", some stay there but those that keep on growing do it quite slowly to the 14"-15" inch mark.

What this info tells me is that it is OK to keep one Oscar in a 4footer by itself for its first two years of life, but if I have a pair, they should be moved to a six footer after one year so they have healthy tank space.

I have a solo endli that is now 8"+. I placed two orders and expect at least 4 juveniles but I could end up with 6 or 8.

I am cycling a 4 footer, 80gal tank for the juveniles. I figure it could be a raising tank for the first year, when I expect them to measure... what?

The solo endli would keep growing but at what rate? He/she is going to a custom built six footer of 180 to 200gal tank.

At what time should I expect to keep them all together? I mean as a "best guess" and what shall be a "safe" size difference (being conservative) to do so?

I am into breeding this beautiful fish (within six to eight years from now) hoping to encourage local fishkeepers to venture into Bichirs.

my 4.5 grew to 6 in like 2 months he grew slowly at first then quicker so thats just my input =D

all depends on u and your endli i had 1 that grew 1-2" a month untill about 15" i got it at 6-7" and skinny btw

they grow fast till they reach around 14" and then its growth rate slows down,
but then again it will depend on the food n environment that they're at.

Got mine at 2"-3" in July of 09 and is now 14" pretty stable now i'd say once they get to the 16" mark it's time to go to 24" wide tank or bigger
thanks

if you feed em twice a day like i do they will grow pretty fast.
