just wondering how fast they grow? say compared to an oscar or RD

Mine has packed an inch in one month. I got him at 3 inches at the Sacto ACA from rapps. i had a 6 inch male that grew to 9 inches in four months.

I have heard they can get to 12 inches in their first year.

yeah 1" a month is about right when small if kept in optimal conditions, i've only had them up to 11" so i couldn't really tell you how they grow as adults, most likely as with most cichlids it will slow down dramatically as they get really big 18-19"+
