I was just told that an UV filter for an aquarium should be put on a timer to run only for a little while once a week. The reason for this, as explained to me, was that the UV would kill everything in the water and a fish would loose its natural immunities since its body would never have to fight off anything....sounds weird but wanted some info from here as I had planned on using one when i complete my large tank.
