Yes I tried the search function try to search under UV ??:nilly:
Anyway looking for some input on using a UV for Bacteria and a floating parasite hedge. Do these units really work and do you think they are needed as a preventive measure, in order to ensure the long term life of your collection...........is bigger always better....?

1) Try search with UVC (?) there's a bunch there.

2) Yes, just like checking the chemistry, UV's are a precautionary measure (unless you already have a problem). It's one (several) less thing you'll have to worry about. (Bulbs do need to be changed every 6-8 mo.)

3) No, Bigger is not always better, it's all about the dwell time.

Thanks Dr Joe, for the quick reply. I was hoping to cut down on the mysterious deaths that happen from time to time....I'm starting to aquire more and more expensive stock so I want to make sure they are protected and kept in optimium health and conditions as I have the means too.
