UV Filter

Hi,

I have a 220 gals and a 50 gals sump. I am planning to put a UV System in my sump. Are there any watts per gallon rule on UV Light? My tank is indoor and I don't have problems with algae I am more worried with fish sickness.

I know UV can lessen bad bacteria and pathogens that can make your fish sick but is there a rule on it? On how long should the water interact with UV to kill those bad things in the water?

i have a 220 im setting up soon and i am using a aquauv 40watt. no real rule watt per gal since what matters is how long the contact time is with the bulb

Slower the flow the better, then it's a matter of sizing the UV/pump combo to the turn over rate you want.
