I have been looking for a decent UV light to install inline after my sump. My biggest issue is my pump is at around 950GPH-what is lost from head distance(less than 3') and most of the UV lights are suggested to be at max 600 for good results. I dont really wanna buy and plumb up a new pump / intake / output just for the UV. Does anyone have and or know of a good UV light for around this flow rate. I was looking at this one

but the fact that it does not show how many GPH it can handle worries me a little bit. I was under the impression that the more watts the bulb the quicker it can sterilize thus it should be able to handle a faster flow is this correct thinking?

Check out ebay. I've had good experience with the odyssea brands. I think they go up to 18 maybe 36 watts. Id plumb two or so of them in parallel. Split the 950 gph into two 36 watt uvs and you should be good.

You don`t need another pump or throttle the one you have down.
Put the UV in a valve controlled loop on your return.
Adjust the flow to the UV, guess-ta-mate it.
You don`t loose a single GPH.

For maximum benefit you want to push 10 gph per 1W... so 9W light @ 90 gph... 95W @ 950 gph...

a 95W light will cost you a fortune and will probably be many times more than what you need for your tank.

Splitting the return line with a ball valve on one side after the split and before the UV sounds like your best bet. Do not put the valve after the UV light as this creates back pressure in the UV housing which can easily cause the UV unit to leak.
