UV plumbing

I'm want to buy a Eheim 2117 and 9w UV Turbo Twist at the same time to save on shipping. I plan on plumbing the UV to the outtake of the 2117 and using a 'T' connector and valve so I can decrease the flow to the UV to kill parasites. The 2117 says it has a 1/2" outtake, the UV has 5/8" and 1", how do I get these to work out? Will a 1/2" hose fit in a 5/8" hose locking connector? What size 'T' connector would I need to buy? I'm not finding any that go from 1/2" to 5/8" or 1".

Does anyone at least know if it's possible to reconcile two different size of hoses? Is there a part out there to connect 2 sizes?

Yeah theres a thing called a bushing(thats what i think its called.). You can use that to change the size of the pvc. Go to lowes or home depot and ask them about it.

i think bushings are for reducing pipe, check out pvc hose barbed reducers, i use them for taking a 3/4 return line and putting it into a 1/2 chemical reactor. you can get them online dirt cheap.
