UV question

Is it better to run a uv 24/7 or 12 hrs on and 12 hrs off?
And if you run it 12 on 12 off does it matter if its on when the lights are on or off?

I just leave mine on all the time. I have like 7 of them and have been running UV for almost 10 years.

I run my UVs 24/7. No fish have died as of yet, so I guess it's ok

Only downside I can see is that your Light will burnout faster and will cost more electricity to run.

The electrical cost will likely be greater but the extra on/off cycles are said to actually decrease bulb life. I've actually used some bulbs well beyond 12 months, only turning them off once a week during water changes.
