UV Question...

I bought a 40 watt uv for the 600 yesterday. My question is, I have 4 1" returns on the tank and only have 1 uv. Will it work hooked up to only 1 return line.?

I have 2 2400gph pump running 2 1" lines each.

For UV to work effectively you want a low GPH water flow going through the UV. This will allow the water to expose to the light longer and letting the UV do the work.

This unit is rated up to 3600gph.

It should do fine on one line. Eventually it will get the wole tank thru it.

I have my uv sitting on top of the return side of my sump and it is plumbed of the return pump with a T pice and a tap to adjust the flow and returns it next to the pump and eventuly all the water goes through it. I used to have a 400l/h pump hooked up to it but I had to use the pump on a smaller tank.

I have a 180 gallon filtered by 2 XP 4's. The water is clear looking at the aquarium from front to back, but slightly hazy looking from one end to the other. While at a LFS, I was told to add a UV sterlizer to clear up the water. I don't know anything about UV's other than it will keep the fish healthy. How about water clearity?
