Ok i recently bought a coralife 9x twist uv sterilizer. I installed it yesterday and today my water is crystal clear. It appears to have a aqua blueish tint to it. Is that a normal effect after using the UV? I even took a sample of the water in a glass shot glass and it was clear.

Curious - what size tank do you have?

Sizing up UVs myself so if you have crystal clear water off of a 9w was curious what tank size you put it on :)

I have it on my 90g tank. Its good to up to 125g. A lil pricey but worth it. Next I want to put one on my 300g.

I was thinking of adding one myself, would it benifit my tank as it 6'x18"x21" freshwater stocked with large fancy goldfish. does it keep algae down as u said above and help would be greatfully recieved esp on what side pump to conect it to as i am useing an FX5 and a fluval 405 other end and if it is worth having it on 24/7 as read somewhere its best switched off and run only 2 days a week any coments please. thank you in avance.

Well it helps greatly with algae. I was going to hook it up to my eheim but u will lose max output on ur filtration. I connected the UV Sterilizer to my maxi jet pump. Simple connection about 3ft of tubing, a control valve to control the flow of the water. The slower the flow through the UV the better. You want the most time for the water to pass through the UV so it can kill the free floating pathogens in ur water. Youtube has some videos of some installation techniques.

I believe the general sizing and flow recommendations are 1 watt per 10 gallons and 10gph per watt. Does anyone else use a different formula?

I have a 55g with a 9w sterilizer that took a few days to clear the water completely- it works great. the bluish tint left completely after a while [maybe bit less than a week] and resulted in perfectly crystal clear water. so i'd say give it just a bit more time and you should hopefully see some improvement~ :>

Looking at my tank now, it is super clear. Loving this uv
