So I'm possibly going to setup a UV on my 220 I just got this week. but I wanted to know...

What's the best UV for a 220?
Where is the best place to get one (cheapest)?
Can you plumb a FX5 hose and a UV together? or would I need to setup a seperate pump for the UV?

go with Coralife turbotwist. hook it up to an eheim 2217 cuz the Fx5 has too high of a flowrate which will lead to your uv working at its lowest potential

I have to go with FX5s b/c I have allready bought them awhile ago and I don't want to buy any more filters if I don't have to. Could just a bigger UV work then?

I mean can you get a UV that's to big? or to many watts?

I was initially gonna hook it up to my fx5 as well but since I bought a 18w sterilizer I had to also buy the 2217 just for the sterilizer.. I dont think theres a UV thats too big for an fx5... probably the 40w that dragonhunter got for sale is your best bang for the buck

Selki, why the Coralife turbotwist? Also planning on getting a UV filter for my 150. I have XP3's. your advice?

XP3 and a uv sterilizer will work perfectly. Just make sure you get the right wattage for the flow your filter pushes out, that way it will work efficiently. I recommended the Coralife only because I got one and many other experienced hobbyists as well. Im not saying other brands are junk or anything but just giving my .02

Makes sense to me, thanks!

we have two UV sterilizers which we switch from tank to tank every 8 weeks or so. From what I have noticed is the water clears right up and whatever was causing the cloudiness is eliminated because it hasn't come back.
We needed to get one because our aggressive tank would just not clear no matter what we did. Now it looks great and I am glad we bought it.
My opinion is they are good for you if you really can't get your tank just right, with weekly maintenance and water changes.
