What would be beneficial for adding a uv sterilizer to my 180gallon fresh water tank? I'm feeding about 200 crapie minows a week. I had a peacock bass but it died when I moved. Not sure if I will replace him or not. I'm having a hard time adding fish to my tank now, I added a 14" arowana and my pike, though much smaller almost killed him?? So now I'm thinking about a uv sterilizer, could be because I haven't bought anything new for my tank in a while. I guess it's a tank thing??

I currently have
2-22" clown knives 1 gold 1 gray
1-9" red pike
1-9" african lung fish
3-5" Featherfin Synodontis
1-5" stripe raphael cat

just kills freefloating alge and other floating organisms

If you've already got a good test kit, have thought about a water filter for your fresh water feed and already have a pair of fuzzy dice hanging from your rear veiw mirror, go for it, it won't hurt and it can only help. Do get the proper size for your tank and remember that the bulb has a service life of 6-12 months (check the manufacturer),

Good Luck,

Dr Joe
