Hi All,
I am in the process of planning and buying the equipment for our new 520g freshwater tank that will be started this fall.
Tank is going to be focused around stingrays, the rest of the fish will depend on what will get along with them.
Let me start this out by saying I have never done a freshwater tank this large. I have a 900 gallon saltwater system and a couple other 300 gallon saltwater systems but obviously UV dosage in saltwater is much different.
Equipment details so far:
520g Tank - 96" x 42" x 30" (L x W x H) Acrylic, external overflow.
180 g sump with tons of biological filtration / wet dry etc.
Two ATB Flow Star 1500 Return Pumps (3000 GPH)
Two Vortech MP40 or Tunze 6105 Powerheads (5000-6000 GPH)
If UVs are needed / suggested. I will be using the Rainbow Lifegard 40w units. I keep as much equipment the same between all my systems so the same spare parts and replacements work (less extra stuff needed inc ase of an emergency). I am think 80w but could do more if needed.
Thanks!
