is this true? i heard that a uv sterilzer can stain an acrylic tank yellow after a few years...has anyone ever heard of this before? seems strange to me

I have never heard anything like that before. This does not mean it is not possible. But I don't see how it could happen.

ye...i dont see how it would actually happen
The UV light is contained so unless I am missing something....

On further thought I am sure this would have been a big deal and mentioned on all the UV threads yet I researched heavily the UV lights before getting my coral life twist and never heard a peep about it staining acrylic.

alright thanks man...it just sounded strange to me i figured if it was true i would have heard something about it before

When acrylic tanks first started to become popular sometimes the acrylic would
yellow but it wasn't because of the UV sterilizer but often the UV rays from the sun-Anne

the contained ones obviously wont tint the acryic...

the general light style UV lights aka the kind they put on walls in hospitals/resturants aka the kind where you can see the light could tint it just like the sun would.. not sure how long this takes to happen...

My 36 watt Coralife Turbo Twist hasn't been a problem for the 8 months my 360g has been up and running.
