Back when I started my first tank I purchased a UV sterilizer and I heard alot of mixed reviews on them. Some people love them and swear by them and others claim in addition to killing the parasites and bad bacteria it kills the biological filtration that I was trying to build with bio-wheels/ wet dry filters. I was wondering what the thoughts are on it now.

One note with this is my primary reason right now is I have some egglayers that are giving eggs in my breeding tank but growing fuzz within 16 hours. But I was considering hooking it up to my big tank indefinitely if it's a good idea.

Well if you don't use It I will gladdly take it off your hands.

This is MHO. if used correctly UV Can be good, IF it where some doomsday like some would have you believe it would not be on the market. As long as the UV goes after the filter most of your BB will be safe, most BB is on the filter media itself and not in the water.
