Uv sterilizer?

Setting up my new 450 gal tank. On my last 450 I did not have a uv sterilizer eventhough it was in the kitchen with the patio doors next to it. No problems there. With the location of my new 450, there isn't much natural light so I will be using a new lighting setup.

Would it be beneficial to add a uv sterilizer? The one I have is rather huge and wonder if the pain of installing it vs the benefits?

i would run a tank without a UV its not just to keep away the green it helps with parasite

it is very easy to install, and if you have the money, well worth it.

Glass doors and windows filter out almost all UV, so having a tank next to natural sunlight doesn't count if there's a window. That's why UV sterilizers use quartz sleeves.

If you got it definitely give it a shot. Could be a really simple install as well. Are you using a sump ? What type is it ? I love my 18 watt Turbo twist and 9 watt they work wonders.

well...my sump is large (5ft long x 18" wide x 20"high) acrylic from Tenecor...not much room under my stand to the top of sump...I also purchased the UV sterilizer with my tank package...but was a bit hesitate due to the lack of room I'm going to have under my cab...anyways...I've decided to use the UV since I bought it.. . The UV is a 50Watts Emperor Smart UV ...it's huge...I guess to go with the size of my tenecor 450gal acrylic...

Setting everything up now as we speak...hope to get everything setup to test the water by mid next week....
