First off, I'd like to say HI to everyone here. I just recently joined after being refered by another member. I've spent the last few days reading over a lot of the posts and must say, you all sound so very knowledgeable, freindly and helpful. I'm sure I will continue to find this to be an awesome place! Now, On to why I am posting..... I have a heated outdoor 550+ gal pond that has been doing quite well until recently. In a nutshell, I've been told that I need to get a UV sterilizer for it and I must agree that it I in fact need one. My problem is two fold... I know very little about them(other than it doesn't seem to matter which one I read about, it always claims to be the best) and I am on a very limited shoestring budget since I happen to be between jobs... :( If any one can give me advice on where to pick up what I need for the very least I have to spend, I and my fish will be forever grateful!! :) If one of you happens to have an extra one that you would/could pass onto me, I would hardly refuse it... LOL

It will help the algea problem. My advice is get one that is very easy to clean because they are useless if dirty, thats my knowledge on them.
 
I sure am hoping I will... :) I have one of my fish that I'm pretty sure has a bacterial infection, which means everyone might be at risk. I have read that the UV sterilizer will kill off the bacterials and such before a fish starts suffering from something. That's the main reason I want/need to get one going asap. Along with the fact that I'm really sick and tired of this green water!!
