I bought a new sterilizer and plugged in straight in. it did not come on. I then replaced the bulb. This one came on fir a moment, but then died. Does the bulb have to be in contact with the water to be able to work. Please advice.

What brand?
If the bulb touches moisture its wrecked!!
Sounds like one of ur seals is bad or on wrong. Take WHOLE UNIT APART, INSPECT AND MAKE SURE THE BULB IS WATER TIGHT! THERE SHOULD BE A GLASS TUBE THAT SEALS THE BULB AND THERES A SEAL ON THOSE THREADS
