Hi everyone. My turbo twist UV sterilizer will be arriving tomorrow and I have a question on setup. I hear that UV sterilizers will reduce water flow through the filter. I plan on hooking mine up to my Rena XP3. What is the best way to prevent a decrease in flow rate? My only other filter is an AC 110. My tank is a 120 gallon. I just don't want to be underfiltered. Do you think a Rena XP3 with a UV sterilizer and an AC 110 is enough filtration?

hmm
depends on how its stocked.

Its not fully stocked yet, but I plan on having two large cichlids (Festae and Pike) as well as one or two large catfish.

1 more 110 for 39.99 at petsmart (pricematched) would be a good investment!

I'd recomend giving the UV it's own pump and return line. As has already been stated they work best with a very slow flow to allow more contact time. I've set them up on ponds and they make a world of differance with a small pump but when placed inline with the main system they do very little good.

I would make sure to buy one that is reccommended by sites that people have rated. you want something that moves the water slow and close to the light so it kills all kinds of paracites and other bad things.
