Are UV sterilizers good to have or do they kill more than they need to? I have a inline uv sterilizer and was thinking about running it on my return but have been told by a few people that they do more harm than good. Anybody run them and what are the pros and cons to them? Again thanks for the info.

they dont kill anything that isn't free floating

My experiences with them have been positive, I think they are a good Idea it makes cleaning a lot easier.

they are good at preventing parasitic disease, free floating, and algae spores. However the micro fauna within the water, that most coral and filter feeders use as food, will deminish. Supplement feedings are needed. Either way you probably wont see much of a difference but its nothing i ever recommend using on a DT, only QT tanks. just me though
