UV Sterilizers?

Would you say that these help a lot with algae control or are they not worth the money?

I don't have a huge algae problem but I'm not really not a fan of having to scrub the tank, rocks or ornaments so I'm looking into options that would help me save the time in doing this. My feeding, lighting and the time my lights are on are about average... or better put, along the lines of what some sites suggest in keeping algae down.

They help great with algae in the water column but don't work against algae on glass, plants and rocks, which I think is where you habe algae.

yup a UV sterilizer will help kill free floating algae and help with water clarity but it will not eliminate algae growth on glass and decorations.

What are your usual nitrate levels like? What color temperature are your lights?
