UV sterilizing pump tube?

Just picked up aquatops UVP-9 and it has a breather tube in the box with it, is this so you can fully submerge the pump or what? Anyone know? I would like to be able to fully submerge the thing

Is that a breather tube or a venturi line? If it is a venturi line, it is optional and does not have to be used.

No clue the instructions suck. I ended up tightening the air valve and submerged it so whatever haha
