with filters, what does uvc mean?

Ultra violet cannister....or an in line UV unit like a rainbow lifeguard would be my guess.

The filter would contain a UV sterilizer as part of it.

Basically kills off free floating organisms, some of which are considered to be harmful to your fish or aquarium.

It's not a bad idea if you have an alge problem or are constantly adding fish...but we have 10 tanks and don't own a UV.
