Hello wondering if anyone here has had any experience with these two species? how aggressive are they? pics would be great as i cant find too many on the internet!!!! im putting in an order to Rapps this week and im trying to figure out if i should get both or just one or the other. any info would be great, thanks in advance

I currently have the Heterospilum and have had the Hartwegi. Are you planning to put them in the same tank? If you're planning to do that i hope u have a big tank because the Hartwegi is much more aggressive than the Heterospilum in my opinion. I like my Hetero. and the colors are awesome but they do seem less aggressive than some of my other Vieja. I currently have mine with my Bocourti and A. Altifrons and they will eat most any food. I think you should get some, not too many have these guys but on the other hand the Hartwegi are very beautiful too, just alittle more aggressive.

come on guys and gals i need to place my order tonight... anyone with pics I just saw a nice pic of a hartwegi how about the heterospilus

I agree, I've kept both before, and the Hartwegi is much more aggressive than a heterospilus.

I'd rate a Heterospilus having similar temperament as a Ufermani, both are pretty mild.

Hartwegi, I'd rate them similar to Bifasciatus. Both are aggressive and can be punishing to others living in a small tank.

I have not kept a hartwegi but I have a Heterospilum and I can say that is a gentle fish and does not show aggresion towards other tank mates, but can hold its own if it gets picked on. here is a pic of mine

I have a male hartwegi that I can't keep with anyone. The only thing to keep him in check was my large jag.

any Hartwegi pics? I just got my Rapps order yesterday and i think mine maybe a little stressed because he dosent have much color and i would like to see what he will look like once he settles into the tank.
