Just checked the caves in my 55g and there are 200 or so eggs stuck to the back side of some slate! I've been trying to breed them for a couple months, and it looks like success! I'll have fry pics as soon as they come off the wall.
Yeah, i'm real excited as i've been told that these fish are not easy breeders. In the past i've had alot of success w/shellies and a few types of malawian cichlids, but until now, have had no success w/ cave brooders. Score for me!
Female is around 3" and the male is 2 1/2" ish. I wasn't sure of this but i was told the female guards the eggs and the male guard the perimeter and thats what they are doing.
The fry will take out baby brine, correct? should i feed rotifers as well? how about cyclops? Just trying to figure out which foods will give me the best survival rate.
yeah, def wont move 'em. Any time I shine a flashlight in to see them, she moves them to an area in the pot that I can't get an angle on to see them. good muma
