I'm going to be gone for a week and a half. The only fish that won't be eating while I'm gone are my rays.

I was thinking about starving them onto pellets anyways, so is this an okay time period to do so? Can they survive that long without eating or should I have someone feed them their worms while I'm gone?
The only reason they won't be eating is because my fish sitter is just going to be giving them pellets.

how long have you had them and what are they on, its better for rays that have been captive for a while because they are healthy enough. I would suggest having your fish keeper feed them normally, you know more about the rays then they do. Water is more of an issue than food when you are gone

Well I'm currently running a cascade 1000 canister filled with mechanical filtration as well as a 30 gallon sump filled with mechanical filtration, a huge bag of carbon, and tons of scrubbies (about as much as I could possibly stuff in there.)

I have had the rays for like a week now, they are eating fine on earthworms, bloodworms, and market shrimp. Would it be okay to just prepare a big meal for them before I leave for the fish sitter to dump in half way through my trip? The problem is that my sister will be watching the house and she isn't gonna fool with worms and shrimp.

I would feed them quite a bit before you leave and prepare a few meals for them. skip every other day or every two days, the bigger the meals the worse your water will get if they dont eat it all. When are you leaving.... any chance at getting some feeders and quarinteening them before you leave?

Not enough time, I'm leaving in the morning. I'm not worried about uneaten food, there are other fish in the tank that will take care of that with no problem. I will most likely just cut up a bunch of shrimp, and put it in a tupperware container in the fridge and have her feed it to them a couple times. That way she doesn't have to touch any of it.

how big is ur ray and is the ray fat? i have gone about 10-12 days without food for my rays.
