I think Ive asked this before but I can't remember exactly what info I received in response so I would love it if someone could share some knowledge with me before I leave for vacation tomorrow. I'll be gone until sunday and I was wondering if their is anything special considerations I should make in regards to my two tanks. I plan on leaving the lights off and feeding them pretty well tomorrow night in the hopes that they can last until sunday. Is this okay? I have a 220 with a full grown dempsey, a six inch dovii and two small green sunfish. Also a 55 with a 4 inch jag and a 3 inch flowerhorn. I'm pretty sure this was the advice I got last year and I was away for 7 days with no problems so I can't imagine a 3 day trip should bother them too much. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

3 days no problem its good for fish to have a fast once in a while. I would do a regular wc day before and a regular feeding the day you leave. Also check your filters and heaters to make sure all seems fine.

yep... water change before you leave is the best thing you can do. went on Vacation for 1 week.. and the following week was gone most of that as well... nothing special was done other then water change before we left... when we first got back... then a light feed when we got back. No one was worse for wear... Though our puffer was Ticked off! lol

I do not worry about my fish as far as feeding when I go out of town and never have returned to any bad surprises. The only thing I do before I go is a water change.

Smitty from Yeadon? Upper Darby Yeadon? I grew up across the street from worldwide pets on larchwood. I also lived in yeadon on cobbs creek parkway and in darby. Say hello to Jim at Worldwide for me.

in the future if your gone for a long period of time, you could consider getting an auto feeder. ive never had one but they do seem cool.
