I am leaving for 5 days. I am concerned about my fish. I plan on doing a heavy feeding tonight and then a water change. Will they be okay until Wednesday without any food? Any advice, suggestions?

How big are they and what kind of fish are they. I've left my gulpers and cichlids for over a week and they were fine. My 24inch RTC died within a week. All different vacations

I'm surprised to hear your rtc died that quickly. I feed mine on an irregular basis ranging from every other day to once a week and they do just fine. I had a 2 footer come down with a bacterial infection due to the net cutting his fins when I moved him to another tank and he didn't eat for almost a month and was a little skinny by the end but probably would have made it another few weeks easily.
To the op. Those fish should be just fine for a week if healthy. If you're really worried you can pick up a cheap autofeeder for like $12 but personally I would feel more comfortable not feeding.

Iunno. I've fed fish the bear minimum or none when they chewed algae. Couldn't do that with my bigger cichlids though. They started to turn on each other. Been a couple of times I left on vacation and came back to everything as normal and other times, the fish went suicidal. Not even sure what was different. Hope all goes well. Can't hurt to get the water extra clean so at least stress isn't an issue.

I've left my tank several times in the past during vacations with the longest being 11 days. Assuming you aren't overstocked and have adequate filtration you should be fine.
