Hi all, I used a gravel vac for the first time today in a 20g tank. It pulled out a lot of debris, with about 50% of the water. I treated and replaced that water but there is still a lot of debris left in the gravel. Wondering if I should vac again today or wait a day or two to do it again? Thanks.

I would wait, you dont want to stress your filter with too much at once

im not with you on that guy,,u should test b4 u put any in if your not sure what your puttin in,

just to add to that if your new ya test away it will give you insight into how things work and what changes after a while u will only test whenever u feel like it

Stay on top of maintenance and watch your parameters, vacuum once a week at a minimum.

You should test with some regularity, you'll prevent a lot of problems if you're on top of your parameters.

I do water changes twice a week but only vacuum once a week. There's a lot of nitrifying bacteria in your substrate and you don't want to be stressing out your filter by constantly removing it. A testing regimen is pretty important. As Fish n Chips said, if you're just starting out you can never test your water too much. If your tank is established, you should still keep an eye on your parameters. I test my water before each water change and 24 hours after the water change.
