This system has been in use for 4 years.Although its location generates a heavy algae growth, its self-sustained minimal maintenance is most goodly.

You need to some oxygen in that thing, all your fish are gasping at the surface. Cool setup though!

The fish were feeding on freeze dried blood worm which floats to the surface of the vacuumed section.
One of my other posts details the method used to draw air in by vacuum pump controlled by a process timer.
There is a"low-tech" approach to these set-ups using a tube to suck the air out from the inverted section. Home-made vacuum pumps make the whole set-up more manageable.

I thought the term "Nano" was for small aquariums with advanced filtration and water flow to provide a compact habitat for for a community tank.As opposed to basic "mechanical" filtration.
