I turned the lights on in my aquarium this morning and discovered my Val plant had wilted like crazy overnight.
The only thing I have done recently is:

> Correctly dosed the tank with Flourish Excel
> Trimmed the top ends that were floating on the surface.
> Larger than usual water change. (40%)

Tank: 75 gallons, Freshwater, Flourite Red substratre.

I don't know what I did wrong, if anything. Was trimming it a mistake? Do vale plants not like Flourish Excel? Or perhaps Vals have a growth cycle where this is normal?
The last time this val plant wilted it took me months to get it to grow again.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

(Only yesterday this plant was vibrant dark green and stood tall, now collasped and wilting.)

I only gave the tank the first inital dose. What do you suspect the chances of it recovering are?

Trim off all "melting" leaves and do a large water change to remove the excel and that is about the most you can do. I have had that happen to val and it seemed to be recovering (until fish ate it). I think that would work.

It will probably be the excel, it is known for making the val melt.
You best bet to save it will be to do a large water change to get rid of the excel.
