Valencia Aquarium

Hi all, here are some pic's from the Valencia Aquarium in Spain. Project opened in 2002 and it is the largest aquarium in Europe! The pictures include two facing slightly curved acrylic coral tanks - one side indo-pacific and the other side is caribbean. A penguin habitat, mangrove swamp, some more coral shots and then the coolist auditorium backdrop - the red sea tank.

The place is great - The coral room and the auditorium are like a 5 star hotel. The best wood, fixtures, and why? General Contractor was on a time and material + % to do the work so he spent as much as he could. Still is a great city and aquarium, however some exhibits are not as good as they could have been. Also has a great group of husbandry people.

I'm very jealous of you. It seems like you get to go see all these amazing aquariums, and all I have is a fish shop... and a bunch of boring fish at the seattle aquarium. Thanks for sharing.

Oh come on the Seattle Aquarium is going to be a great aquarium if and when they do their expansion! Also you have one of my favorite aquariums in the area over at Point Defiance. It is getting old, but the tide pool and the tropical reef that we did is still one of our best exhibits.

I just took a quick look at our plans and no the only fresh water was the mangrove swamp and alligator exhibits. That is really sad! It had so much room it could have done some great freshwater tanks.

From what I understand, they did a small expansion, but they are planning a bigger one - they are still looking at moving the aquarium totally to a new location. Might be for the best! We just did an new entry tank for Seattle in the entry cylinder tank.
