I got baby gt's looked over this morning and asked myself...why is there so much dirt getting stirred up...OMG WAIT THATS BABIES!!!!

i think i got them eating Plankton with spirulina and stabilized vitamin c

and i also tried some blood worms which the parents ate but the little guys are eating the pellets that dissolved at the bottom of the tank so that is good.

any other suggestions on meal plans...

also what is the chance of survival my tank is a bit cloudy because it hasn't fully cycled i assume although ammonia lvls were almost non existent yesterday when i tested.

any information on keeping these guys healthy would be awesome.

got a video...

YAY valetines BABIES!! check your parameters again and if there is any ammonia/nitrite then i would go out and get some cycle, since you said ammonia is almost gone you would probably only have to get enough for one dose, as you can imagine fry are even more sensitive to water params so the quicker you get everything stabilized the better their chances, though looks like a TON already got to the free swimming phase so thats def a good sign :) as for feeding goes, just continue what your doing, and crushing up what you feed the parents into a powder and then mix with tank water and pour in should work as well, i used hikari first bites with my festae fry and this was good for them (just make sure to mix in tank water first so that it sinks faster) CONGRATS

if your tank isnt fully cycled i wouldnt feed them anything. the fry can live for a few days off of tiny food particles jammed in the rocks and such. give your tank and filter a chance to cycle and clear up then start feeding however you want. fry love crushed flakes. i dont know if you do brine shrimp but that would be the way to go.

the plankton food i put in there disolves into a pile of soft powder in about 3-5 minutes the piles dont move and ive noticed the fry at different times coming back to them and nawing on them...

can they eat too much? cause right now the piles will stay there until they are eaten...normally i dont leave them and whatever the parents dont eat i pulll out but i cant do that with the fry in there right now.

Another question how many can i keep i have my 30g set up and i have the breeding pair in the 90 with all the fry right now i know i dont have the space to house them all...how many can i safely keep to raise...

i have a deal with a lfs to buy them but i didnt expect to have babies yet i didnt even realize she laid eggs as they were well hidden under some driftwood.

so how many can i keep safely without worrying about any dieing of ammonia sickness or bad water quality...

let me know.

water params....

ph 7.6

.25ppm ammonia

and somewhere around 10 for nitrates.

what say you fish gods ?

did a 30% water change yesterday

figure another 30 today and tomorrow?

seems like the cycling is going much better but still not 100%

let me know what you think

yeah i would def go out and get enough CYCLE for at least one dose, if you always do wc everyday to keep ammonia super low then it will actually take longer to cycle because the ammonia needs to actually build up enough for enough bacteria to form to handle it, so with the CYCLE the levels can go up but without hurting your fish and it adds more bacteria to handle it quicker, its expensive but works great if you dont have the time to let it cycle naturally

Thanks... thats awesome preciate the help i didnt find cycle but i found some stuff that the lfs that the guy said would work great so i put 1 drop in the filter after a water change he said it should work great and wont affect the fish at all. Also set up the 30 gallon tossed some of the fry in there used the water from the tank and made sure to put a heater in there so there was no change over in water temp or parameters immediatley...ill do a wc in that tank tomorrow plus there is still some fry in the 90 gallon gonna be tough to get em all out.

ill keep everyone posted as they come out

talked to another lfs as well i have all the babies sold to one store or the other for 1$ a piece store credit providing they are a inch a piece...

woot woot here comes my new ehiem pro filter for the 90 gallon and maybe a new tank if i keep em coming...

its a long term goal leave me alone :P
