I would agree. I am in a very rural area and even I can find these guys everywhere. However I hear they are great fish to have as a pair. I had a female on a community tank that was a very great looking fish after shy grew out of being so shy. Mine was always more of a timid cichlid but as a pair they have a reputation of being a very nasty cichlid.
Thanks everyone! I think I'm going to get these guys. It will be a while since they are sitting on a new batch of eggs, waiting for them to hatch lol. I'll be able to pick them up after the fry are free swimming. I'll try them in my community and if they get too nasty I've got an empty tank they can have to themselves. I don't really care if I make money off they fry or not, just was curious if they were a sought after fish or not. Thanks again!
I would get the other tank ready and plan on that for a long term thing and just move them into your community tank as a temporary home until their other tank is ready. They are not known to do well in a community tank unless you have a very large tank with some very tough cichlids in it. Just my opinion though. And good luck with everything.
As nice as a cichlid as they are. They will not command a lot per fish, But by the same token they should not be hard to get rid of either for a couple of bucks since most fish store like carrying them.
I think I'm going to pass on these guys. Ideally I'd like to keep them in my community tank and if that is not realistic then they are better off where they are. Thanks everyone.
