I was wondering if you guys and girls can help me out. I am thinking about getting a vampire tetra. I am doing research on this fish and I am trying to find out as much as I can about the vampire tetra. Is this fish anything like a piranha or is it very different from piranha? Thanks for any help and information.
Thanks a lot guys. I have a better understanding of this great fish. I am not sure I am going to get one just yet. I am waiting for my serrasalmus rhombeus for one tank and I am setting up another tank for some red belly piranha. Thanks a lot for the information. Everybody was a big help. This site is great. Thanks.
The use of this word is a pet peeve of mine because many of the fish store people will label their fish as such no matter which of the many fish in this family they happen to have. You may have to do some research, learn them and decide which one you want to keep.Oddly enough, the picture in the Wikipedia link looks like a raphiodon vulpinus but it is described as a hydrolicus scomberiodes.Any one else notice this?
Payara captive care guide that's stickied at the top in this section has some good info. The people here are probobly gonna serve you better info wise then what you'll find out on the net since most net info includes improper ID- as mentioned above.
A lot of good info here if you can find it. Just mess with the search function...
