Okay so first let me say THANKS:grinno: for all the info with the guppys.

i would like to vary the live food my Ctenopoma (named Kirby, get it ) eats and i have a 10g tank that i think might but fun to raise Lamprologus multifasciatus in.

the little shell guys seem funny and i was wondering if there are any params that my tank should meet to help increase spawn rate of the cute little feeders

I did some research and i think i know the basics just want to hear what you all have to say. (this fourm is the best source of info on the net)

also anyone here keep Multis and have any fun stories or what not about them?

Multis certainly wouldn't be my first choice for a feeder fish....good luck getting them out of their shells when it comes time to feed.

I've not raised multis, but I've raised Neolamprologus similis, which are almost identical. You won't get a very big colony going with only a 10 gallon tank. A 33 x-long would be much better suited to raising shellies. Spawn sizes are also fairly small...20 or so individuals is pretty common. Like most africans, they also don't grow all that quickly.

Obviously, since they're rift cichlids, you need a hard water tank. I've always accomplished this by using crushed coral sand as the substrate. You'll need a ton of shells, as well. The more shells, the happier the fish will be.
