I was wondering if anyone is doing anything special with their wolf's diet to help with growth. Right now I am feeding a combination of shrimp and silversides soaked in vitachem which he gobbles up. I also tried bay scallops but he refused those. Next on my list if some sort of filet (tilapia, cod, etc).

I really wanted to try introducing pellets but not sure which I should go for. I was thinking definitely sinking but should I tried for NLS or Hikari and then which ones specifically.

I saw some folks feed frogs but where do you get those and do you feed those live? I was thinking of trying dead pinky mice when he gets bigger as a treat but not sure if that is a good idea.

I am following what I did for my piranha especially with the vitachem but not sure if others are doing that.

Adding pellets to what ur giving now Is fine. I give massivore to my fish with some silversides, tilapia, and smelt (ocassionaly). You'll get the same amount of nutrients from pellets as other foods. Just be patient. Once they hit a certain size their growth will slow.

You can add the other stuff like frog as long as u can afford and find it. Seems not a necessity but another option.

I feed my predators a mix between silversides, pellets, tilapia, market shrimp, mussels and whole climbing perch from the Asian supermarket.
Something like massivore should do the trick for you.

i try and give mine a real variety . the problem i find with feeding things like market silversides and tilapia among others even dew worms which my guys eat .
is that they are cleaned and contain only the flesh . ok the silversides contain some bones but no heads and are cleaned .
its my thinking that my fish need whole prey items with all the blood and guts and bones , to use to grow there own healthy bodies and skeletons .
for this reason i also feed pellets . and minnows and frogs i catch my self . i also give frozen pinkies on occasion the frogs i do feed live the problem is finding and catching the right size frogs when the fish is small you need to catch ones that the fish can pretty much eat whole IMO

Do aimara take massivore easily? I bought a bag for my rhom that was eating NLS and he refused it. I ended up tossing both the NLS and massivore so I am more cautious now of buying pellets.

The silversides I feed are whole silversides that are individually frozen. I need to look but I have found uncleaned smelt before that had the guts in it.

My guy is still about 8in so he cannot eat a ton in a one sitting, but I am sure he will get there quick enough. In the month I have had him, I can see him growing already.

ya mine are not real crazy about the pellets , im using northfin sinking carnivore brand they eat a couple here and there but they like all the other food items better it seems

Frogs are pretty good for building mass. But if you can get it off live that will be the best.

Mine is taking mostly sliced fish at the moment and sometimes feeders if it get grab it fast enough from the larger tank mates.

I feed mine a combo of whole frozen loaches, market prawn and large feeders here and there. My Aimara only seems to really like the thawed whole loaches.

I wouldn't advise feeding rodents, I can't remember why it wasn't good for fish, maybe it was the fur in which case you should be fine, but they have trouble dijesting some part of the rodent. Other than that, everyone has given good info and variety, a very meaty diet is good for them

They have a hard time digesting the protein in terrestrial mammals, add to that it's quite fatty.
