Just a few shots of the fish I'm concentrating on at the moment. First, a jumbo pair of S.jurupari (I'm fairly sure these are genuine jurupari). The male is 8", the female 7". No signs of spawning as yet, but I live in hope. All my fish live in hard, pH 7.8 water, so I'm not holding my breath.
Next is a beautiful pair of Cichlasoma dimerus (about 4") I picked up only yesterday. I've been eyeing these up for a while, and have been thrilled at how much more stunning they are in the flesh compared to what I had been led to believe.
Lastly I have some juvie Cichlasoma bimaculatum (less sure about this i.d., although it's the best I've got so far !). I have 2 x males, and 3 x females, all about 2-3". Hoping to get some spawing going on at some point. All the "port" acaras are known to be fairly easy spawners so I'm hoping for success here.
THese are with the camera's onboard flash. I'm hoping to get some better ones, especially of the male C.dimerus, once I've set up my full outboard flash rig, as he is such a stunner.
Here's the pics !

nice jurupari. mine are about 5" and still show lots of blue banding on their face. is this something they lose as they get older or did your camera just not pick it up? rarely see any pics of adults around.

I bought these as mature adults so can't comment on changes as they grow. But, my photos show a pretty true representation of my jurupari as far as I can tell. These are the first known true S.Jurupari I have ever actually seen in the flesh. All the standard LFS "jurupari" around here have really been S.leucosticta since I've been looking.

I was lucky enough to get my hands on 7 small jurupari and have been growing them for a year now. they are definitely not leucos. hopefully I can get some pics/vid around xmas time. I have some old pics when they were small and my crappy camera doesn't pickup all the blue bars on the face or the blue/green/gold spangling on the body. nevertheless, they look amazing in person now that they've hit the 5" mark. don't see many jurus around at all.

To answer your question, yes they are true Satanoperca jurupari. Very nice ones at that.
