VATF and white background

It should be fine, but it will lose its dark, rich coloration that most people tend to enjoy in them. The tail will lose almost all if its red and yellow, the flanks will go silvery, almost mirrored, and the adipose fin will lighten to either a grey or cobalt blue, with the black receding to just the tip.

White backgrounds amplify the light and make it brighter, which can stress them and in severe cases cause blindness. I was answering under the assumption that one would reduce the overall lighting in their tank to mitigate any potential problems.
